Letters in the The Jade Dragon Box by Gale Sears

What the heart remembers…

Letters in the Jade Dragon Box is set between memories of the Mao Tes-tung years in China and the time following his death. Chen Wen-shan, now 15, can’t remember anything before she was sent to live with her great uncle in Hong Kong. A mysterious letter is received. A trip to a large home and a gift of a Jade box, with voices from the past, will forever change their lives.

The story is well written and easy to visualize. The unique characters bring variety and realism to the story. Based on real life events, you have the opportunity to experience some of the most devastating events in China’s history and the results of the cruelty.

Excellent work of historical fiction.
